WK Interact was born in Caen, France in the year 1969. He currently does his work and lives in New York. WK is a graffiti artist who does his work in the streets but they are also in galleries around the world. His art work can be seen all around the world. Even in the streets of Manhattan. When he was little he was fascinated with the human body in motion. (Gallerydriver.com, Jonathon Levine) For example a person riding a bike is one of his paintings. It is called “Tracking messenger. By people in motion I mean that you can tell that the person is moving due to the streaks in back of the bike, which resembles movement. WK is different from other graffiti artist. Most of the graffiti type art that is seen around the streets or that some people just do for art is usually in a type of bubble lettering with arrows coming out at the end of a letter or maybe just different objects that are shaped in the graffiti type of art. But WK does not have that basic graffiti art.
WK Interacts art is graffiti art. But like I said, it is not the basic graffiti art. In a lot of his art he draws people. In of his paintings called Sebastien, Anthony, Simonez, and Cyril, they are men screaming but it is not just a clear picture. It is the graffiti style. You can see that by the types of swirls he uses to make the face and all the features. His art is basically just black and white. Even though they are basically black and white, they are not boring pieces. You can tell he loves to draw because of all of the detail he puts into every work. They are not just one simple thing, they are diverse in just the one piece.
Now his art can be seen throughout many galleries throughout the world, but also seen throughout the streets. Which is why is a graffiti artist. He first started to get noticed in 1990 when he first started doing graffiti in Manhattan. WK has been associated with Nike, BMW, Kobe Bryant, and a variety of skateboarders who I believe have his art on their boards. (WK Interact.com) In 2001 he opened Studio 101 which is gallery and or retail space that is in the lower east side.
After looking at some of WK Interacts work, I am learning that art doesn’t have to be boring or just some art for any gallery that high class people will look at. It is pretty interesting now that I know his work is inside galleries. I am pretty interested with graffiti to begin with and now that I seen Interacts work, I have also learned a new style of art.
